How it works
Each round shows one constellation as a stick figure: brighter stars are drawn bigger. Tap one of the four names, or press keys 1 to 4. Right answers score 100 points plus a speed bonus of up to 100, so a perfect lightning-fast day tops out at 1,600.
The eight are chosen from the date, so the challenge resets at midnight and is identical for every player. They are drawn from constellations above the horizon around 10 pm for mid-northern latitudes (about 40°N, think Madrid, Denver or Beijing). After you finish, you'll see where to look for each one tonight.
Star positions are approximate (rounded catalogue coordinates) and the stick figures follow the usual textbook shapes, which vary a little between star atlases. The game knows 29 constellations.
